Mwema Street Children

ZARA Highview Hotel

Visitors to Highview are also welcome to visit the Mwema Street Children Project which is supported by the Highview Hotel. There are about 100 children being looked after here - most do not have parents capable of looking after them. Boys frequently get into trouble living on the streets, girls are sometimes used as unpaid workers or misused. The centre provides support with schooling and a caring home for those who are homeless. The Highview Hotel has established a link with the centre and contributes finances, food and clothing. Visitor contributions are very welcome.

One project to help fund the home was a building in Karatu being equipped with computers provided by ZARA to help locals learn computer skills in exchange for small contributions.
